Díospóireacht Scoile/ School Debating

Bhí díospóireacht iontach ar siúl le déanaí idir Gaelscoil Phortlaoise agus Scoil Náisiúnta na gCluaineacha Dubha. Ar an deauair, bhí an bua ag Gaelscoil Phortlaoise. An rún a bhí ann ná : Food Waste Should be Made Illegal. Léigh an tuairisc ó Setanta Ó Collatáin.

We had practiced for weeks and the day of reckoning was nigh. We had received a bye in the first round and we were worried that we weren’t ready but those worries eventually proved unfounded. The event began when our principal, Múinteoir Dominic, asked for complete silence. He then invited the chairperson, Conchúr de Staic to the stage as he departed. The chairperson proceeded to welcome everyone and introduced me to the stage. I gave my speech as my legs remained stationary while continuously moving my head in an effort to address everyone. After each speaker had a turn at persuading the audience I resumed my effort to convince everyone that food waste should be made illegal. Our valiant effort was successful and we celebrated a glorious victory. My teammates Ailbhe Ní Chuinn, Odhrán Mac an Chrosáin, Cian Mag Uinseannáin, Conchúr de Staic agus Aine Ní Riain were extremely diligent in their preparation and this made all the difference against strong opposition from Clonaghadoo N.S. We are eagerly awaiting our semi- final in the new year. Ní neart go chuir le chéile!
